We have spent the last few days exploring the D.C. area. We had some incredible food- from Indian to Japanese to French pastries and the kids loved it all…mmm! We visited the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and could have spent days in there. Ben loved the dinosaur exhibits and Maddie was into the Geology area (thanks Uncle Bob). We also had a tour of the White House that was eye opening. We got to be in rooms within the White House where presidents as far back as Thomas Jefferson regularly spent (and continue to spend) time- pretty cool. The most impressive part for me was the security to get in and the amount of security guards and secret service within and around the White House. We visited the Smithsonian Zoo and as well and got to visit the Giant Pandas. Bens favorite thing at the zoo was the lions and tigers and Maddie liked everything! Rye and I loved watching the apes. We used the Metro (Subway) to get to the Zoo which was a fun experience for the kids. We also tried out electric scooters for transportation a few times and we all had fun, it is like going on an amusement ride. We also visited the Lincoln Memorial, reflection pool, and World War II Memorial. City life sure is exciting…and delicious. We are heading north to the Hershey, Pennsylvania area next.
