Shenandoah NP was gorgeous! We stayed 2 nights at the Big Meadows Campground and were pleasantly surprised that this park was not very busy. We hiked to Lewis Falls- which was an 81 foot waterfall. We got to hike a small portion of the Appalachian Trail and while on the trail we saw some Peregrine Falcons…they are huge! Ben said, “I think they’re circling something,” it may have been us! They had some good biking trails around the campground as well and the kids were very happy to make good use of them. On thd downside, we have had some difficulties with the camper battery power. This campground did not have hook-ups but you could run the generator for a few hours in the morning and evening which got us through. We drove from Shenandoah NP to just outside Washington D.C. yesterday and as expected, traffic was nuts. We stayed in Greenbelt Park, Maryland, which is a beautiful patch of green space within the concrete jungle. This morning, we dropped off the camper to be worked on over the weekend and hopefully they can figure out the power issue for us 🤞. Meanwhile, we are staying in a hotel in downtown Washington D.C. about 3 blocks from the White House! We had a personal tour of the Capitol buildings this morning and were welcomed by senator, Steve Daines, office staff. The kids were not as impressed as we were with the tour but they put up with it. We did get to ride on a tram and subway between the capitol buildings which was a huge hit with everyone. We followed our tour with a picnic at the National Mall/Washington Monument.
