Heads Carolina

We made it to Charleston, South Carolina yesterday! We are staying in a hotel for a couple nights to recharge. Today, we just took it easy. I think we are all feeling a little burnt out with being on the run and trying to fit in all the fun activities. We have been able to take some long hot showers, do laundry, and hit Costco and Target! The weather here in Charleston has been perfect- 70-80ish. There is a park near our hotel that is right along the Ashley River and we got to watch some people catching fish and pulling crab traps right off the pier. The sunsets here are gorgeous (or we just got lucky) and we got to watch it last night from the river bank. Rye took the kids over to a specialty Lego set and collector store today and they enjoyed building from a massive bin of random lego pieces. We went to the Charleston Crab House for dinner tonight. It was right on Wappoo Creek (the kids think it is pretty funny that a lot of names around here end in poo). We had crab, shrimp, mussells, and hush puppies. It was SO good. At this restaraunt you can bring in whatever you caught that day and they will cook it up for you. We finished off the night at Whit’s Frozen Custard- their custard was unbelievably creamy and smooth. They even had a “puppy sundae” for Hank. We are gearing up for a busy upcoming week. We will be visiting Congaree National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Shenandoah National Park.
